Seán is a chef-turned-grower and a lifelong lover of local produce.
Originally from the south of Ireland, he began his career as a chef and restaurateur before making Australia — and the Mornington Peninsula — his home.

After years spent in professional kitchens, his passion naturally shifted from cooking great ingredients to growing them. He proudly describes himself as a "grower who can speak chef," understanding what Chefs are searching for because he's spent his life on both sides of the pass. His philosophy is simple: grow local, eat local.
Ingredients harvested nearby at their peak and grown with intention simply taste better.

Together, our knowledge feels like two halves of the same story. One understands the language of food, the other the language of flowers. Both begin in the soil and everything we grows starts from there.

Ally Cox

Seán Flanagan

'the grower who can speak chef'

'flowers matter far beyond their beauty'

Ally has spent nearly two decades as a floral designer, capturing life’s biggest milestones through the nostalgic power of blooms—like how a sniff of a sweet pea posy can instantly transport you back to your grandmother’s garden.

But after twenty years in the industry, she grew tired of the ugly side of beautiful flowers: the heavy chemicals, the massive carbon footprints of imported stems, and the endless mounds of single-use plastic. Wanting to be part of the solution rather than the pollution, Ally traded conventional sourcing for sustainable farming. Today, she grows flowers with ecological integrity at heart, with which they deserve, ensuring the blooms gracing your moments of joy are actually kind to the earth. Because to Ally, flowers matter far beyond their beauty.

Not because we planned it that way, but because the things we cared about most kept leading us back to the same place:
healthy soil, local food, seasonal flowers, and the belief that growing well has the power to nourish both people and place, as well as our future.

We're Seán and Ally, growing at Torello Farm, Dromana, on the Mornington Peninsula, where vegetables, flowers, fruits
& berries are tended side by side in a small-scale market garden shaped by the seasons.

We arrived here from two different worlds.

We're fascinated by the energy beneath our feet — the living soil that makes everything possible. We believe it's the countless relationships among bacteria, microbes, fungi, earthworms, nematodes, and roots that create healthy plants from healthy ecosystems.

Our market garden is chemical-spray-free, and we follow organic and regenerative principles wherever we can. We grow green manure crops to mulch and feed the soil, build compost, disturb the earth as little as possible, and encourage biodiversity in every corner of our garden. We do our best to source locally, believing in resilient local food systems.

There is no finish line in farming. Every season teaches us something new, and every crop asks us different questions. We're always learning, observing, and adapting, guided by our belief that if we care for the soil, the soil will care for everything else.

We grow slow-grown seasonal vegetables, fruit, berries and flowers with patience and intention. Not because it's the quickest way, but because we believe good things take time.

This little patch of the Mornington Peninsula is where our two stories have come together.

A Chef.

A Florist.

A shared love of growing.

And the hope that the food and flowers leaving our farm carry a little of that story as you sit down at your table.
